After a site evaluation deems a parcel suitable for a new or replacement sewage system, the next step is to apply for a septic system permit. Once a complete application has been submitted, approved, and the appropriate fees paid, construction of the system can begin.
After a septic system is completed, the installer will contact the health department to initiate a final inspection. A sanitarian will visit the site and inspect the installation of the system, assuring that it was installed according to the permit requirements. After the system has been given final approval by a sanitarian, an approved tag is provided and the system can then be covered.
