Public health is the science of protecting and improving the health of families and communities through promotion of healthy lifestyles, disease and injury prevention, and the detection, research and control of infectious diseases.
Public health focuses on the health of populations, ranging from small scale (like a neighborhood) to large scale (like a state, region, or country). We work to prevent health problems from happening by developing and implementing educational initiatives, developing health-related policies, providing direct services such as immunizations, and conducting research about disease prevention. We also strive to ensure that basic health care is available for all.
We invite you to learn more about public health through the services we provide for community members of all ages.
